Environmental Management
TBL works to protect the environment as needs for maintenance or projects to improve or expand the transmission system
arise. TBL looks for ways to minimize impacts to people, natural resources, and sensitive areas before making the needed
system improvements. Environmental considerations may include:
- Public Health and Safety
- Water Quality
- Wetlands
- Scenic Value
- Soil Erosion
|
- Cultural Resources
- Fish and Wildlife and their habitat
- Social and Economic Effects
- Land Use and Recreation
- Air Quality
|
During project planning, TBL gathers public comments to identify possible issues and concerns. TBL provides opportunities for
public comment through open houses, public letters, and information posted on the Web site and by meeting with regulatory agencies
and local and Tribal governments.
The level of analysis and mitigation required is determined by the potential of the proposed project to impact the environment. TBL
documents it’s findings, responds to public comments, and then determines whether or not to move forward on the project.
TBL is committed to preserving watershed health and working with public agencies, interest groups, Tribes, and property owners to
minimize impacts. TBL works with its contractors during construction and maintenance to ensure that protection measures are
carried out as described in environmental documents, permits, and agreements.
