Infrastructure Projects BPA maintains existing transmission infrastructure and builds new lines as they are needed to improve transmission system reliability and help meet future power needs. Many BPA projects are rebuilt as the original poles or equipment age and are exposed to natural wear and tear. In addition, new projects may be needed to meet requests from customers in the region or to enhance the safety and reliability of the system.
