Completed Wind Projects

Hopkins Ridge (Blue Sky) Interconnection

The Hopkins Ridge wind farm is located in Columbia County, Wash. Hopkins Ridge was fully energized in September 2005 with a peak output of 150 megawatts. Blue Sky Wind LLC, Inc., an affiliate of RES America Developments developed the wind farm and BPA facilitated the interconnection into the Federal Columbia River Transmission System. The project has been purchased by Puget Sound Energy.

The power generated from the Hopkins Ridge wind farm is collected at the Hopkins Ridge substation at 34.5-kilovolts (kV) where it is stepped up to 115-kV. Blue Sky Wind LLC provided an eight mile 115-kV line to interconnect to BPA’s Walla Walla-North Lewiston transmission line.

The interconnection required BPA to construct a new 115-kV switching substation near Dayton, Wash. called Tucannon River substation to interconnect the line from Hopkins Ridge, and is located on a five-acre parcel of land approximately one mile from the Tucannon River.
