Completed Wind Projects

Vansycle

Image of a wind turbine on the ground. The Vansycle wind farm is located east of the Stateline Wind project on Vansycle ridge southwest of Walla Walla, Wash. Vansycle was fully energized in June 1998 with a peak output of 25 megawatts. Vansycle was built for developer Florida Power and Light and straddles the 69-kilovolt (kV) Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line.

The power generated from the Vansycle wind farm is collected at the Vansycle substation at 34.5-kV and is stepped up to 69-kV to interconnect to the Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line where it connects to BPA’s electrical grid.

BPA provided all necessary metering at the collector substation and had to re-build five miles of the 69-kV Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line from Vansycle substation to the Stateline Tap to provide a reliable interconnection.
