Vansycle
The Vansycle wind farm is located east of the Stateline Wind project on Vansycle ridge southwest of Walla Walla, Wash. Vansycle was fully energized in June 1998 with a peak output of 25 megawatts. Vansycle was built for developer Florida Power and Light and straddles the 69-kilovolt (kV) Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line.
The power generated from the Vansycle wind farm is collected at the Vansycle substation at 34.5-kV and is stepped up to 69-kV to interconnect to the Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line where it connects to BPA’s electrical grid.
BPA provided all necessary metering at the collector substation and had to re-build five miles of the 69-kV Walla Walla-Pendleton transmission line from Vansycle substation to the Stateline Tap to provide a reliable interconnection.
